“There’s a strong sense on this record of finding yourself. Ending an identity crisis. Realizing who you are, realizing what it is that you want to be, who it is you want to be. There’s a lot of topics in the record about being exhausted, tired of living one way and wanting to live another way. There’s a lot of focus on not specifically relationship songs in a way “Lights and Sounds” was pretty much void of them and “Ocean Avenue” had “Only One” and some songs that were very specifically about falling in and out of love with someone. A lot of the theme on this record is, now I’ve found myself and I still haven’t found anyone else, I still traverse through this adventure by myself and I hate that. It’s something that I write about a lot now and not being able to share the experience with anyone as you get older it’s frustrating. Especially cause the other guys in the band are married, engaged at this point. But I think it’s also kind of like lot in life, it’s my place, it’s where I am. In order to show up everyday and fight for us and fight for them and you know, I think in a way I need to be alone.”
